Surfing Mum as a child. Cute togs!!
Despite growing up inland in Wagga Wagga, Stacie Bobele, aka Surfing Mum, has been surfing for 15 years. What made her start surfing? The reason everyone does, Stacie explains, because it looks cool. Her first board, a completely inappropriate 7’2” gun, is now replaced by her 6’3” stick which she spends most of her wet moments on. But she’s also been a bodysurfer her entire life and spent several years in the water as a volunteer surf lifesaver. 37-year-old Stacie’s favorite break is Jan Juc, not far from her Victorian coastal home. With Stacie’s husband a surfer and a not-quite-two-year-old to join their dynasty, this surfing mum’s column, aptly named Surfing Maternal will talk about wetsuits and breastfeeding sometimes in the same sentence. Find out how important it is to continue with what you love (ie. Surf) after becoming a mum through Stacie’s experiences.
