Morning walk
It’s 8:36am
I just returned from a morning walk.
The air is so fresh and clean.
It has been raining all night
and was gently drizzling as I left home early this morning.
Of course I had my comforting green rain jacket with its big hoody
to protect me if it was to pour.
I was awake at the crack of dawn.
It was still dark, the sun was yet to break through the horizon.
The stars were glistening as I left the house.
I looked up and smiled.
What a beautiful start to to the day.
All was silent and still as I walked up my driveway.
When I made it to the street I saw a lady walking at a hurried pace
on her way to work.
The main road was busy – cars driving as workers travelled to their jobs.
Arriving at the beach – it was still dark but I could see faintly the waves breaking.
It’s still quite big – big, whitewash foaming clouds.
I love the sound of the ocean rumble.
I walked north. Rechecking the surf in the middle of the beach.
A different perspective.
There are walkers on the beach too.
Everyone on solo missions but there is a lovely vibe in the air.
Off up the bush track that runs parallel to the beach.
It is so pretty.
There are puddles that I jump around.
I’m wearing my old pair of runners – the ones that can be trashed
rain, hail or shine.
As I make it to a few beaches further north I look down and realise
that my shoe is falling apart.
“It’s a talking shoe!” says my friend who works in the local shop.
We laugh.
There is such a good feeling about today.
I think getting out of the house first thing in the morning is the best.
I see friends who have had dawn surfs – .
they look clean, clear and fresh.
What a perfect way to begin the day – jump in the ocean.
Exercise is the best feeling.
The freedom of running, walking and surfing
makes you feel so alive.
Enjoy your day
